Font Download & Installation The Bengali language contents of this
site can be viewed on MS Windows Machines ONLY as we provide the Bengali fonts ONLY for MS
Windows as of now. Macintosh and Unix users: we have not forgotten you ! Fonts for Macintosh
and Unix are under developement. The basic requirements to view these pages are MS Windows 3.1, 95/98 or
NT and Netscape version 3 or above (version 4.0 or above is PREFERABLE). The site is also
visible in Internet Explorer 4.0 or above - but the formatting of the content may be
changed. If you are equipped with the required softwares, read on. |

This website is one
of the first Bengali language websites for testing usage of Bengali fonts embedded
into the HTML document. This technique of using Bengali language encription is still
under Beta test, and thus you are sure to face problems. Please be patient with us.

Steps for downloading and installing
Bengali Font:
1. - Download the executable file called "font.exe" by
clicking on THIS LINK or clicking
on the "Download Bengali Font" button at the top left corner of THIS page.
You can also download the True Type "AdarshaLipi" fonts by anonymous FTP and install the fonts in the font folder in your computer, if you are "Font Savvy" and if you know how to go about, installing new fonts in your Windows 95/98 machine. For Anonymous FTP, click on THIS LINK 2. - Be sure to save it in a fresh new directory in your machine (example C\Program Files\Bengali) and click on the font.exe file. It is a self-extracting file which will automatically save the different true type fonts (*.ttf) and install file called install.exe within the same directory which you have saved the file. Then click 'install.exe' file to invoke it. It should automatically install the fonts in proper places. 3. Restart the computer.4. The first indication of proper font installation is that ..... When you start the "Microsoft Word" program you will see that "AdarshaLipiExp" and its family and "LipiExp" and its family of fonts are there in the space on top (of MS Word window panel) from where you choose the different fonts in MS word. If they are not there, then the do the following . 5. - Open the Windows Explorer and go to C\Windows\Fonts directory and check if ALIPI_*.TTF and its family of fonts are there or not. If you don't find it there then go to Control Panel, Click on Fonts , then Click on "Install New Fonts" and go to the directory where you downloaded the font.exe file. Select all the bengali (*.ttf) fonts and Click OK. This will install the required bengali fonts. 6. You should now be able to see the Bengali Fonts from MS Word program. Please check it. 7. -If you can see, then restart the computer once again and start the Windows and web browser. 8. - You should be able to see the bengali scripts in our bengali website now. |
